WIZZ:
Here's some of Maggie Holland's review from Folk Roots Magazine:
The
format is simple - Wizz sits on a chair behind a couple of mikes
and runs through about 20 songs from his humungous repertoire, with
Newman chatting with him in between, asking questions about his
influences and technique and generally egging him on. Richard comes
over like a well-informed fan and the whole thing has a very relaxed
and unpretentious air. Well it would be difficult to get 'Wizz Jones'
and 'pretentious' into the same review! It's the next best thing
to having Wizz sitting in your living room running through a few
numbers. I suppose its called a seminar because you can watch his
guitar playing close up over and over, with that powerful, rock-steady
right hand; but happily I reckon he's genuinely inimitable.
If
you've read this far - sorry to say this video is no longer available
(apart from the odd bootleg knocking around). However those nice
people at Sound Techniques have asked me to make a new DVD in 2005.
Wizz
Yes DVD released in 2006 "Guitar Maestros No 1" featuring Wizz plus Simeon and Martin Carthy on the Sound Techniques label.
But I fear no longer available, try Ebay!
